At Am Tikvah, we value both formal and informal Jewish learning.  We offer a wide variety of options for children and adults. We may be small in numbers, but we are rich in ideas and activities for all.

Shabbat Morning Torah Study

Every Shabbat morning from 8:45 am to 10:00 am we meet in the Fireside Room at Am Tikvah and on Zoom to read and discuss that Shabbat’s Torah section (parashah). Rabbi Chayva leads the discussion.

Rosh Chodesh - The New Month

The Women of Am Tikvah gather monthly from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Fireside Room and on Zoom to learn together with Rabbi Chayva. Rosh Chodesh, meaning the beginning of the month, is a traditional opportunity for Women to spend time together and celebrate.  Catch up on previous learning sessions here.

Lunch & Learn

A monthly program taught by one of the rabbis in the Southside Jewish Collaborative. In-person over lunch and/or on zoom.

Judaism: The Big Picture in 16 Parts

A course offered by Rabbi Chayva Lehrman on Saturday afternoons after Shabbat services in the Spring of 2024 both in person and on Zoom. Each class covers a different topic, and learners were welcome to attend one or all sessions. See the syllabus here. Catch up on previous learning sessions here

Adult Prayerbook Hebrew

An introductory Hebrew class offered online only. Taught by experienced Jewish educator, Dr. Jennifer M. Levine, the class focus is practicing to read Shabbat service prayers. The class is for anyone who already knows the Hebrew letters and would like to practice reading in a group setting.
