Sunday, May 7, 2023 • 16 Iyyar 5783
1:00 PM - 4:00 PMSan Pedro Valley Park, Creekside Picnic AreaLager B'Omer: BBQ and Brew" is a family-oriented event, loosely based on the holiday of Lag B'omer. Lag BaOmer (Hebrew: לַ״ג בָּעוֹמֶר, LaG Bāʿōmer, also Lag B'Omer or Lag LaOmer) is a Jewish religious holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer, which occurs on the 18th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar. Families go on picnics and outings- Lager B'Omer is a picnic. One custom associated with Lag B'Omer is the lighting of bonfires- we can't do that in the park, but we're barbequing hotdogs: close enough. Finally, it occurred that this refers to the counting of the "omer," or sheaves of barley. What is barley used for? Beer. What's a type of beer? Lager. Thus the name "Lager B'Omer"- we'll be providing lots of beer: please drink responsibly!
We provide the hotdogs (kosher and veggie), buns, condiments, drinks (not just beer but wine and non-alcoholic beverages, too), plates, utensils, napkins, charcoal, lighter fluid, etc.
You provide enough for 4 people:
Appetizers (if your last names begin A-F)
Salads (if your last names begin G-M)
Side dishes (if your last names begin N-R)
Desserts (if your last names begin S-Z)
and fun- feel free to invite your friends!
***PLEASE NOTE: There is a $6 entry fee per vehicle.
